“Fresh on ideas, wild on knowledge”: this is how Sapporo Convention Bureau is presenting itself at ITB Asia – a creative, alternative Japanese MICE destination.
Located on Japan’s island of Hokkaido, Sapporo is known as Japan’s capital of the North with a population of almost two million. However it is not just at the top of the country geographically. A wide variety of natural surroundings makes for unforgettable outdoor adventures in both the green & white seasons. The varied climate – especially long-lasting white winters, has put Sapporo on the map as a top incentive destination in Asia.
Unusual for a city, Sapporo receives around six meters of snowfall in winter. During 130 days on average, the Japanese metropolis is therefore usually covered in white, powdery snow.
Sapporo Convention Bureau is putting forward a portfolio of unique products which perfectly meet post-Covid clients’ needs and highlights its winter season. Among them, the Ice Carousel, a circular, thick slab of ice on a frozen lake, spinning as visitors lay on it. Snow is indeed a strong selling point for many MICE organisers in South and Southeast Asia.
Another attraction is the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium. The facility is one of the most symbolic and beloved legacies of the Winter Olympic Games in 1972. Travellers can enjoy the finest taste of Hokkaido at the property’s renovated restaurant, along with the spectacular views of the gigantic jump hill and the backdrop of the glittering night view of Sapporo. And how about the “Ice Bar” and “Canoeing through Autumn leaves”?
At ITB Asia, the Sapporo Convention Bureau team is ready to share many more astonishing venues and ideas with visitors.
