Perth: A leading destination for leisure and business alike at ITB Asia 2024
Proving its appeal for both vacationers and professionals, the Western Australian city has achieved a near-perfect satisfaction score among travellers, and reported stellar business event results for the 2023-24 financial year.
Based on a survey of 170,000 travellers carried out by the international travel agency, Flight Centre, over the last financial year, Perth was found to be the highest-rated travel destination in the world. With an impressive 96% satisfaction rating, the capital of Western Australia with its pristine beaches, ideal weather, vibrant restaurant scene, and arts and culture attractions, took the top spot on the list.
In addition to its excellent overall satisfaction rating, Perth has also proven to be a thriving destination for business travel. Business Events Perth recently announced that during the 2023-24 financial year it secured a total of AUD 339.61 million in direct delegate expenditure as a result of the significant and ongoing support from the Western Australian Government through Tourism Western Australia.
This number represents 315 confirmed national and international business events up until 2030 generating 277,534 hotel room nights, 18% higher than pre-COVID levels.
Business Events Perth’s strategic priorities are aligned with the recently released Western Australia Visitor Economy Strategy 2033 (WAVES) presented by Tourism Western Australia aiming to grow a sustainable business tourism sector and develop Western Australia’s status as an economic powerhouse in the South-East Asian Region. Developing the business events sector is an important part of Perth’s tourism strategy.
